The 2018-2019 school year marks my 15th year teaching, and I have been at WRHS all of those years. I love WRHS and my colleagues are my second family. I went into teaching because I like to read, and I love to write. Getting to do both of these everyday and get paid for it sounded like a dream job and for me, it really has been just that. I am also the Relay for Life club advisor at WRHS. Every year, we raise money for the American Cancer Society. Working with Relay gives me an opportunity to support a cause I truly believe in while working alongside some of the best students at WRHS.
I married my best friend eight years ago after meeting him at WRHS. His brother was a student I barely knew, and he brought his older brother to school to meet me. It was like show-and-tell meets Match.com. We live in Kannapolis where we're very active in our church and enjoy traveling and spending time with our family and friends. Skip recently started his own business and I spent most of my summer working for him for free! He's the life of the party and the most kindhearted person I've ever met. People can take or leave me, but Skip, they love from the start. Although I've been a "school mother" to countless students over the years, I became a mom in 2013 when God blessed us with our first child, a son we named Levi. We were devastated to learn at 37 weeks pregnant that Levi would be stillborn. Thanks to our faith in God and an incredible group of friends and family, we survived the greatest loss of our lives and welcomed a second baby, a girl, in November of 2014. Layla June might look like her daddy, but she's been a mama's girl from day one. In April of 2014, we were asked to become legal guardians of a precious 7 month old baby girl named Amoura who just turned five in August. We could not love this child more if she had been ours from the start. At the beginning of 2015, she went back to her mother, but she is woven into every piece of my heart and she will always be mine She brought a joy to our hearts that we didn't know we would ever feel again. We don't see her as often as we would like, but we have been blessed to remain in her life. On October 18th of 2016, I gave birth to our second daughter, Larkin Rae. She is my daredevil and my free spirit an if possible, loves her sister even more than we do. I could cry just writing about these tiny humans God has entrusted me with here on earth. I want to get to know each of you and you'll probably end up hearing way more about my family and me than you care to know! |
