Before reading, it is important to build some background knowledge about the author, the time period, and the piece itself. Before you start reading, divide a new page in your daybook (note section) into 3 columns: Early Years, Exile, and Divine Comedy. Each person at your table should take a different section. You should record 5 important facts from your section and share them with the others at your table. |

Dante's version of Hell is based on the ranking of the following sins with the first level dedicated to the least severe and the ninth level reserved for the most severe.
Please put the following sins in order of severity according to your OWN opinion. Please do not google Dante's order and copy it. I want your list of sins to reflect how you feel.
Create a "garland" using construction paper. On each paper, list a sin and draw an image that symbolizes it. You will rank the sins by stringing them in the order of least to most severe.
